TV Schedule, September 8: Red Sox Play Rubber Game Against Blue Jays, Patriots Coverage Ramps Up

Thursday's TV schedule, complete with channels and times, customized for the Boston sports fan. Click on any team's name for complete schedules, scores, and previews, plus an active community devoted to your team. All times ET.

Major League Baseball

Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays, 7pm (TV/Radio: NESN, WEEI) - The Red Sox lost in frustrating fashion to the Blue Jays Wednesday evening, 11-10. The Sox send Andrew Miller to the mound against the Blue Jays ace Ricky Romero in the rubber game of the series. If the first three games of the series are any indication, there may be enough empty blue seats in the Rogers Centre to project a fake background on. Don't watch alone - follow our stream here.

National Football League

New Orleans Saints vs. Green Bay Packers, 8:30pm (TV: NBC) - Two recent Super Bowl champions take to historic Lambeau Field to kick off the regular NFL season. No more lockouts, roster rollercoasters and fantasy drafts. Time to get down to business. Related NBC channels, such as Versus and SciFi, will be broadcasting "NFL Opening Kickoff" starting at 7pm, since the broadcast networks will be carrying a President's address to the nation.

More TV listings after the jump.

Quick Slants and Patriots Football Weekly also kick off Week 1 of the regular season on Comcast SportsNet New England at 7pm and 7:30pm, respectfully.

Major League Soccer

Philadelphia Union vs. New England Revolution, 3pm (TV: Comcast SportsNet) - Missed last night's Revs match? Catch the replay this afternoon.

Tennis

US Open Semifinals, 11am and 7pm (TV: ESPN2) - If the rain stops, they'll play tennis. Unfortunately, it looks like it will be another miserably rainy day in New York City.

Pick Of The Afternoon

I give you one thing I would be watching during the day if I was able. If you're around a TV, watch it for me. Thanks in advance.

ESPN looks to be going football crazy this afternoon, with a new NFL Live at 4pm and a new Audibles (their football analysts show that has a roster seemingly the size of an actual NFL team) at 7pm.
