Zdeno Chara Day-To-Day With Leg Injury

Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara took a puck off the inside of his left knee on Monday and was forced to sit out the remainder of practice but according to team officials, the injury is relatively minor.

The official diagnosis Tuesday was a bruised leg that will keep him out of tonight's Black-White scrimmage at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, RI.

"If he needs an extra day, we’ll give him an extra day," Claude Julien said. "If he’s OK tomorrow, then he’ll go. We’ll see. Just a day-by-day bruise -- a shot inside the leg."

Chara sitting out of the scrimmage in Providence is not considered a bad sign as the game is generally more for players who are trying to make the roster as opposed to regulars.  Other regulars that won't be playing in the game include Shawn Thornton and Patrice Bergeron.

The Bruins will open their pre-season schedule tomorrow night in Ottawa against the Senators.
