Fear not Red Sox fans! Re-enforcements could be on the way as soon as this week! Pitcher Josh Beckett is scheduled to throw a side session Tuesday at Fenway as a way to test the strength of his right ankle.
↵Assuming that Beckett shows no ill effects following the workout he could reportedly find his way back onto the mound for a start before the end of the week.
↵Beckett (12-5, 2.49) sprained the ankle during his start against Toronto on Monday. How he injured it is still a source of debate, and a team physician was unable to pinpoint the cause.
↵The Sox are in desperate need of a quality start from somewhere in their rotation as they’ve lost 10 of their last 13 games and now only lead Tampa Bay in the race for the Wild Card by 3.5 games. Fortunately for the Sox, the Yankees have been unable to gain any real separation in the AL East, leading the division by just 3 games.
