Another inning, more pitches for Jon Lester.
After being made to throw 44 pitches in the first, Lester had to make another 20 in the fourth, despite allowing just one baserunner in Nick Swisher.
The really troubling thing, though, has to be Boston’s difficulties so far with A.J. Burnett. The beleaguered Yankee starter is now through three strong frames against the Sox, allowing just two baserunners in the process. Disappointing to say the least after his last two disastrous outings.
