Red Sox 7, Yankees 5, End 7: Terry Francona's Risk Pays Off

Josh Beckett can leave tonight’s game feeling…better.

After giving up four runs in the top of the sixth, the Boston ace returned to the mound for the seventh, earning some questions from the booth and fanbase alike. But Terry Francona’s faith in Beckett would prove well-founded, as he threw a nine-pitch, 1-2-3 inning against the 2-3-4 hitters of the Yankees’ lineup, striking out Curtis Granderson along the way.

The Sox couldn’t put up any runs in the bottom half, but for now, at least, they don’t need to.
