A lot went wrong in the New England Patriots’ 34-10 loss to the Detroit Lions in the all-important third preseason game on Saturday at Ford Field.
Tom Brady was off. The secondary was dreadful. Wes Welker went down with a neck injury. But through it all, Bill Belichick claimed responsibility.
"No question who the better team was tonight," Belichick said following the Patriots’ first preseason loss of the year. “Obviously, I did a poor job of having the team ready to play. We didn’t really do anything very well in any phase of the game, certainly not good enough to win. Lions are good team, they played well and Jim did a great job with his team. They were a lot more efficient, a lot more ready to play and played a helluva lot better than our team did.” (via WEEI)
