Dustin Pedroia On Reclaiming First Place: 'We Have A Long Way To Go'

Dustin Pedroia and the Boston Red Sox reclaimed first place in the American League East on Thursday night following their 10-4 defeat over the Baltimore Orioles.

However, Pedroia isn't very excited about passing the rival New York Yankees, instead choosing to look at the long term picture.

"There's a lot of games to be played," Pedroia said, referring to the 74 games left in the season. "We're not going to get too excited because we're a half-game up or whatever. What is it, July? We have a long way to go." (via WEEI)

Pedroia went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Boston's win Tuesday, hitting the first of six team home run sin the offensive onslaught. The Red Sox scored at least one run in five straight innings, scoring once in the fourth and fifth, twice in the sixth and three times in the third and seventh.
