Tomas Kaberle Leaves Boston Bruins, Signs With Carolina Hurricanes

Not two weeks after it was reported that the Carolina Hurricanes wouldn't be able to re-sign their own puck-moving defenseman, they now have two.

Joni Pitkanen re-signed last week and, according to reports, former Boston Bruin Tomas Kaberle has agreed to a three-year, $12.75 million deal with the Hurricanes Tuesday afternoon.

The price tag for Kaberle is exactly what he made last year - $4.25 million per year, and it's at a price that Boston just wasn't willing to pay, especially with Steven Kampfer - a much younger, cheaper and stronger version of Kaberle - waiting in the wings.

This all comes after it was reported that Kaberle wouldn't be signing this week as he wanted to take his time to field offers.

Also of interest to Bruins fans looking for their puck-mover of the future, Keith Yandle re-signed with Phoenix for five years and $26.25 million, making the highly rated two-way blueliner a lot harder to get.
