Wojnarowski also reported that Frank's contract includes a team option for a fourth season. Despite reports that said otherwise, Wojnarowski said on Twitter that Frank was the favorite of Pistons' GM Joe Dumars all along.

Frank served as an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics last season. Frank was the head coach of the New Jersey Nets from 2003 through 2010, compiling a 225-241 record with an 18-20 mark in the playoffs.
