BU's Patrick Chambers Will Likely Become Next Coach At Penn State

Boston University men's basketball coach Patrick Chambers, who led the Terriers to the NCAA tournament this past season, will likely be hired by the Penn State Nittany Lions as the program's next basketball coach.

The news was broken by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports and MSG Network, who cited sources on Twitter.

Chambers has a lifetime coaching record of 42-48 in two seasons, both of which he spent at Boston University. In his debut season in 2009-10, Chambers guided the Terriers to a 21-14 record (11-5 America East).

Last year, Chambers led BU to a 21-14 record (12-4 America East) and a second place finish in the conference, as well as an NCAA Tournament berth. BU was eliminated by No. 1 seed Kansas in the first round.

Chambers played college basketball at Philadelphia University, and is good friends with Boston College men's basketball coach Steve Donahue, who he called for advice prior to BU's match-up with Kansas.

If Chambers is hired by Penn State, he would make a return to the Boston during the regular season next year, as the Nittany Lions are scheduled to face Boston College in the annual Big Ten-ACC Challenge at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, MA.
