Mark Recchi Announces Retirement, Goes Out On Top With Stanley Cup

Mark Recchi announced his retirement from the National Hockey League after 22 seasons immediately after the Boston Bruins defeated the Vancouver Canucks, 4-0, in Game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday night.

Recchi, a 43-year-old right winger, played for seven teams in his lengthy career. This season, Recchi had 14 goals and 34 assists in 81 regular season games with the Bruins.

In Game 7, Recchi had an assist on one goal in the Bruins' victory. Recchi scored three goals and four assists in seven games in the Cup Final.

Recchi finished with 577 career goals and 956 assists for 1,533 points in 17,903 minutes of ice time.
