This year's game will serve as the unofficial debut for the Eagles' new offensive coordinator, Kevin Rodgers, formerly the quarterbacks coach for the Minnesota Vikings. Rodgers is replacing Gary Tranquill, who retired after last season.
Eagles coach Frank Spaziani is expected to stick with freshman quarterback Chase Rettig entering the new season. Rettig, who was solid in the Eagles' first spring scrimmage but struggled in the second scrimmage, threw for 1,238 yards and six touchdowns after taking over as Boston College's staring quarterback last season.
