That'snot only the fastest time ever run at Boston -- the first four finishers, including American Ryan Hall, all surpassed the previous course record on Monday.

Boston Marathon Results: Geoffrey Mutai, Caroline Kilel Win 115th Running
Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya was the winner of the 2011 Boston Marathon on Monday, edging countryman Moses Musop with a time of 2:03:02, which is not just a Boston record, but also the fastest marathon ever run. Caroline Kilel (2:22:36) claimed the women's title, with American Desire Davila finishing second. Ryan Hall ended up fourth on the men's side.

Boston Marathon 2011 Results: Kenya's Geoffrey Mutai Wins In Record Time
Kenya's Geoffrey Mutai has won the 2011 Boston Marathon, crossing the finish line in 2:03:02, shattering the course record which was just set last year by countryman Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot, who did it in 2:05:52. Mutai's effort Monday morning was actually the fastest marathon ever run (whether or not it counts as a world record is a subject of debate, since Boston is a downhill course).

The 2011 Boston Marathon is officially under way, Mobility Impaired Participant getting things started at 9 a.m. ET Monday morning in Hopkinton, Mass. The Wheelchair and Handcycle divisions just began their trek to Boston, too, with the Elite Women set to start at 9:32 a.m. The Elite Men, and American Ryan Hall, will start at 10 a.m.
