Bracketology: 2011 Selection Sunday Weeks Away, With Boston College On The Bubble

Boston College (18-11, 8-7 ACC) posted an impressive victory over Virginia Tech on Tuesday night, but evidently it wasn't enough to boost the Eagles into the NCAA tournament field according to ESPN's Joe Lunardi.

Lunardi lists Boston College as one of his First Four Out, along with ACC rival Clemson, Memphis and Colorado. Richmond, Michigan, Alabama and Baylor are Lunardi's Last Four In while Colorado State, Maryland, Wichita State and Nebraska are his Next Four Out.

The Eagles have one regular season contest left, a home game against conference foe Wake Forest, the worst team in the ACC. Unfortunately, BC is in a no-win situation, as a win over the Demon Deacons wouldn't help them off the bubble and a loss would crush all dreams of an NCAA tournament bid.

The Big East leads all conferences with11 teams projected to receive NCAA tournament bids. The SEC, Big 10 and Big 12 are each projected to have six teams in the big dance while the ACC is currently projected to have four teams go dancing.

In addition, the Mountain West, Pac-10 and Atlantic-10 all have three teams projected to receive bids while the Horizon, West Coast and Colonial conferences all have two teams projected to qualify.
