SB Nation Bracketology guru Chris Dobbertean has predicted that the No. 3 seed Connecticut Huskies will advance to the Sweet Sixteen before losing to No. 2 seed San Diego State in the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
Dobbertean has UConn topping No. 14 seed Bucknell in the first round and No. 11 Missouri in the second round.
First Round
No. 3 Connecticut over No. 14 Bucknell, even if the Huskies may be tired from their Big East Tournament run.
Second Round
No. 3 Connecticut over No. 11 Missouri, hopefully in an overtime thriller, like the Tigers early season loss to Georgetown.
Sweet Sixteen
No. 2 San Diego State over No. 3 Connecticut, too many games and too much travel has to catch up to the Huskies eventually.
In other local tournament action, Dobbertean has predicted that Boston University will lose to No. 1 seed Kansas in the first round. Considering the Terriers' opponent is one of the nation's best teams, that's a pretty safe bet.
No. 1 Kansas over No. 16 Boston University, as the Terriers would only have a chance if the Jayhawks' had a fledgling hockey program.
Dobbertean has three No. 1 seeds, Ohio State, Duke and Kansas, along with No. 2 seed Florida, in the Final Four. He picked the Buckeyes to the the Blue Devils and the Jayhawks to beat the Gators to advance to the national championship game, with Ohio State beating Duke to win their second title in school history.
National Semifinals
No. 1 Ohio State over No. 1 Duke, as the Buckeyes' combination of inside-outside play will be too much for the Blue Devils.
No. 1 Kansas over No. 2 Florida, since the Gators struggle against teams with talented big men.National Final
No. 1 Ohio State over No. 1 Kansas, thanks to the Buckeyes' slightly superior guard play.
