There were conflicting reports on Murphy's decision on Tuesday morning, with Stein tweeting that Murphy had chosen Boston while Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports tweeted that Murphy would go to Miami. Yet according to A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com, a league source confirmed that Murphy had chosen Boston.

Murphy has averaged 11.8 points and 8.5 rebounds in ten seasons. This year, Murphy averaged a career-low 3.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in 18 games with the New Jersey Nets, although he has not played in a game since January 7th.
