The Boston Bruins fell in the second half of their home-and-home series with the Detroit Red Wings in the Motor City on Sunday, 4-2.
The Bruins came out a grabbed a 1-0 lead early on what appeared to be a Blake Wheeler goal, but it was later given to Tyler Seguin. Wheeler tried a wrap around, which was saved by Jimmy Howard but a rebound appeared to have bounced off Wheeler's stick for the goal. But it hit Seguin's stick last, resulting in a goal.
And the Bruins cannot get rid of Todd Bertuzzi. Brad Marchand was preparing for a line chnage and made a blind back handed pass to Johnny Boychuk which Bertuzzi intercepted. Bertuzzi deked out Tim Thomas and beat him top glove side.
Marchand made up for his mistake with a goal later in the period when he scored on the top of the crease after a pass from Micheal Ryder. He shot right under the legs of Howard, and it put the Bruins up 2-1.
But the Red Wings struck again in the second period when Paval Datsyuk scored on a wide open net after Thomas collided with Adam McQuaid. Detroit would score again later into the period, when Kris Draper wristed it by Thomas after a pass from Patrick Eaves.
Bertuzzi later added a second goal, and his fourth goal of the home and home series. The Bruins return home Tuesday night and battle the Maple Leafs.
