UMass used another big run to open the second half to get themselves back into the game and held on to defeat Davidson 73-65 and earn their biggest win of the year. Despite an off-night from Chaz Williams, the Minutemen stayed perfect at home (6-0) and moved to 10-3 on the season before the Christmas break.
Five Minutemen players finished in double-digit scoring with Jesse Morgan leading the way with 14 points, three assists and three rebounds. Redshirt freshmen Maxie Esho had a career-day, knocking down all four of his shots for 12 points, to go along with four rebounds and steals.
De'Mon Brooks led a Davidson squad that was coming off a victory over Kansas Monday. Brooks recorded 22 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats (7-4). Tyler Kaloniski was the only other Davidson player to finish in double figures with 12 points and three rebounds.
The Minutemen will be off for a week before they take on Central Connecticut next Friday night at 7 p.m.
