The Connecticut Huskies finish its long string of non-conference contests Thursday night, as UConn host the Fairfield Stags at the XL Center in Hartford, CT (7 p.m. on ESPN3). The Huskies (9-1), ranked No. 8 in the AP Poll, will be trying to earn their fifth straight victory and tune up for Big East Conference play, which begins next Wednesday, Dec. 28, at the University of South Florida. UConn's only other non-conference game will come at Tennessee, Jan. 21
UConn's freshman center Andre Drummond enters the contest coming off his best collegiate performance, which featured the 6-foot-11 blue-chipper netting 24 points and collecting eight rebounds Saturday in a dominating 70-44 victory over Holy Cross. Junior forward added 15 points for UConn, which has rallied off four straight victories after falling to the University of Central Florida, 68-63, Nov. 25.
Currently, sophomore guard Jeremy Lamb paces the Huskies in scoring with 19.0 point per game.
Meanwhile, Fairfield (7-4) is also in the middle of a four-game winning streak, but its last victory came 11 days ago, Dec. 11, against New Hampshire, 58-52.
Senior forward Rakim Sanders, who averages a team-best 16.3 ppg, 8.2 rebounds per game and 2.4 assists per game, is the Stags all-around threat.
