In a first period that the Bruins utterly dominated, Rich Peverley scored the lone goal of the session on a terrific dish from linemate Zach Hamill to give Boston a 1-0 lead over the Los Angeles Kings. Peverley's tip-in on the Hamill pass across the crease, was the forward's fifth goal of the season and came at the 6:32 mark of the period. Benoit Pouilot earned the second assist on the play.
Boston dominated the period outshooting the Kings 12-8 and earning several grade A chances. Former UMass goalie Mike Quick made 11 stops in the period including several point blank saves, with a Bruins forward all alone in front of the net. Tukka Rask had a perfect slate in the period with eight saves.
The Kings have dropped four games in a row and are playing without star forward Mike Richards. Interim head coach John Stevens is making his first appearance as head coach after the team fired Terry Murray on Monday.
