2011 Bowl Predictions: Despite Win, UConn Still Out Of Bowl Picture

Despite earning a convincing 40-22 victory over Big East Conference foe Rutgers University Saturday, the University of Connecticut football program is still not projected to make a bowl game according to two major sports websites -- ESPN.com and CBSSports.com. The Huskies' absence may have to do with needing a victory in their final regular season game, Saturday, Dec. 3, at the University of Cincinnati. A victory would allow UConn (5-6, 3-3 Big East) to collect its sixth overall victory, a mark that allows it to become bowl eligible.

Now, if the Huskies earn a victory Saturday it's unlikely that their bowl invitation will be a good or decent one. On Sunday, SB Nation's Off Tackle Empire had UConn playing in the New Orleans Bowl against the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns. But, Huskies fans, who have suffered through an up-and-down season, would gladly take whatever postseason berth that comes their way.

Overall, the Big East has the possibilities to earn six bowl invitations as both Syracuse University and the University of Pittsburgh -- which play each other next Saturday -- need just one more win to become bowl eligible. Currently, West Virginia University, the University of Lousiville, Rutgers University and Cincinnati are all bowl eligible.
