Boston Celtics forward Glen "Big Baby" Davis is ready to get back to work. On Wednesday, the free agent took to Twitter to give the following message to his fellow players: "Take the 51% man and let's play."
The 51 percent Davis refers to is his proposal of the share players should get of the league's basketball-related income (BRI). Negotiations between the league and the NBA Players Association broke down Friday because the owners were asking for a 50/50 split, whereas the players were holding out for 52.5 percent of the pot. Davis, it seems, is hoping for a compromise.
No new meetings are scheduled at the moment, but the two sides will meet in, not on, court as federal judges decide whether the suit filed by the league against the NBAPA should be heard in court. ESPN is reporting that executives from the NBAPA will meet Thursday to discuss their strategy.
