UNH Wildcats Vs. UMass Minutemen Final Score: UNH Limits Mistakes, Defeats UMass 27-21

The University of New Hampshire defeated the University of Massachusetts by a score of 27-21 at Gillette Stadium today in the second "Colonial Clash".

UMass quarterback Kellen Pagel finished the game completing 25 of 42 passes for 249 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. Running back Jonathan Hernandez finished with 89 yards and a touchdown, but it took him 29 carries to do so. He averaged just 3.1 yards per carry. Receiver Julian Talley had a big game catching 10 balls for 113 yards.

Today UMass made mistakes and UNH did not. UMass had two turnovers, UNH had none. UMass had four penalties, UNH had two. UMass kicker Brendon Levengood also missed two extra points. These costly mistakes by the Minutemen were clearly the difference in the six-point Colonial Clash.

The loss drops UMass to 4-3 on the season and 2-2 in the CAA. They go on the road next week to face off against the Richmond Spiders.
