Bruins Assign Two To Providence, Nearing Final Roster

The Boston Bruins rallied to edge the New York Islanders on Saturday in their pre-season finale.  The exhibition game was the final opportunity for players on the bubble to make an impact on coach Claude Julien before he announces his final roster.

The first of the four remaining casualties were Lance MacDermid and Max Suave.  Both players were assigned to the AHL's Providence Bruins today where they'll hope to be called up to play with the big club when injuries and fatigue inevitably take their hold.

Both MacDermid and Suave saw significant action in yesterdays game with the Islanders, with MacDermid challenging Micheal Haley to a fight during the game following an incident with Chris Clark.  Neither move came as a surprise, as it appears that Jordan Caron has secured a roster spot.

The most likely candidates to be sent down to Providence to round out the roster are Clark and injured defenseman Steven Kampfer, who will be set down to rehab his MCL sprain for the next month.
