Bruins vs. Hurricanes: Stewart Puts 'Canes Up 1-0

Anthony Stewart provided the first sign of offense for either team, netting a botched Matt Bartkowski play past Tuukka Rask, putting the Hurricanes up 1-0 after the first period. That was Stewart's second goal of the season, and both have been against the Bruins.

The Bruins outshot the 'Canes 13-10 and had some golden opportunities, especially early on in the game. Less than a minute into the game, Tyler Seguin and Brad Marchand played a little give-and-go up the ice and nearly put one in. However, Hurricane goaltender Cam Ward has been on his game and stopped everything the Bruins have thrown at him.

The Bruins had a scary moment half way through the period, when defenseman Joe Corvo was sent into the boards off balance by Brandon Sutter. Sutter was called for interference, and Corvo left under his own power, but he did not return at any point during the rest of the period.
