The Boston College Eagles hockey team dropped from the top spot in the USCHO rankings after splitting a pair of games over the weekend against Denver University and New Hampshire. The Eagles remained the number one team in the country according to the USA Today rankings though, just slightly ahead of the Michigan Wolverines, who surpassed them in the USCHO poll.
The Eagles lost to Denver on Friday night in a disappointing home opener, but turned around the next night and drubbed conference rival New Hampshire in their Hockey East debut.
Schools in New England continue to be well represented in both polls with Boston University the next team in the rankings (No. 7/No. 8). Yale is close behind the Terriers at No. 9 in both polls, and then Merrimack (No. 13 in both, and Maine (No. 18 in USCHO) round out the ranked schools in the region.
The Eagles will be back in action this weekend against UMass and Northeastern on Friday and Saturday.
