New England defensive lineman Mike Wright's 2011 season officially came to an end Thursday, when the Patriots placed him on the injured reserve list due to a concussion suffered during the season opener Sept. 12. In a corresponding move, the Patriots have re-signed cornerback Phillip Adams to the 53-man roster.
Thursday's news marks the fourth time in seven seasons with the Patriots that the injury-plagued Wright has been placed on the IR, with the lineman missing the final seven games of last season with a concussion, as well.
Wright posted a tackle and a half-sack in his only action this season against Miami. In 81 career games played, all with the Patriots, he has racked up 134 tackles and 15 sacks.
His replacement on the roster, Adams, has appeared in one special teams play this season against the Raiders after making 13 tackles in 15 games as a rookie with the San Francisco 49ers last season.
