The New England Patriots have re-signed free agent tight end Dan Gronkowski today after releasing him two weeks ago.
Dan is the brother of Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski, who has 22 catches for 327 yards and five touchdowns this season. The move comes after the team released offensive lineman Thomas Welch, who was used as a blocking tight end, a role that Dan is likely to fill.
Dan Gronkowski was released from the team following the loss to the Buffalo Bills after just two weeks with the club. The move originally came as a surprise, considering the team was short on talent at the tight end spot with the MCL injury to Aaron Hernandez.
Gronkowski is in his third year in the NFL and has played for the Detroit Lions (back in 2009) and for the Denver Broncos (during the 2010 season). Dan had eight catches for 65 yards last season with the Broncos.
