2015 Super Bowl Awarded To Glendale, Arizona

Super Bowl 49 will be played at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona in 2015 according to a press release from the NFL today. The site was chosen over Tampa Bay, Florida, which hosted the game in 2009, by a majority vote.

New England Patriots fans will remember that the last time the game was held in Glendale, the Pats lost their bid for a perfect season in a soul crushing loss to the New York Giants 17-14 in Super Bowl 42.

"Everyone pulled together throughout the Phoenix area to put together a terrific package we were able to present to the owners," Arizona Cardinals President Michael Bidwill said. "We are delighted."

It will be the third time that the Phoenix area has hosted the Super Bowl overall. The game was also held there in 1996 for Super Bowl 30, which saw the Dallas Cowboys claim their last Super Bowl trophy in a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
