2011 Red Sox Schedule Released, Still Playing In AL East

The 2011 Red Sox schedule was released tonight and, unfortunately, the Yankees and Rays still play in the same division.

Oh, well. Maybe 2012.

The biggest highlight of the season will be when the Chicago Cubs make their first trip to Fenway Park since 1918. Yes, the Cubs last played in Fenway Park in the 1918 World Series.

The Red Sox's season starts with a trip to Texas. The three-game set will start Friday, April 1 before traveling north for three games with Cleveland.

Boston's first home series will be against the Yankees on April 8 -- a three-game set -- followed by hosting the Rays for a three-game set. Toronto follows before a six-game West Coast road trip versus the A's and Angels.

The season finishes in September with a gigantic slate of AL East games. Except for three games against the Rangers, the Red Sox play every single game against the Rays, Yankees, Jays or Orioles in September. The season finishes with a six-game roadtrip to New York and Baltimore.

Here's how the series look against the Yankees and Rays:

Yankees: vs. April 8-10, @ May 13-15, @ June 7-9, vs. August 5-7, vs. August 30-September 1, @ September 23-25

Rays: vs. April 11-13, @ June 14-16, @ July 15-17, vs. August 16-17, @September 9-11, vs. September 15-18

It ... is ... on!

Well, almost. Hope will rise again in February!
