Johnny Damon has made up his mind regarding a potential move to Boston, telling the gathered press before Tuesday's game in Detroit that he is staying with the Tigers, saying, "I'm not going."
The Red Sox claimed Damon off waivers from the Tigers Monday afternoon, but the veteran had a no-trade clause that could block such a move, which he chose to use.
It was a decision Damon had been wrestling with since learning one of his old clubs had wanted him back, but from the beginning, he was leaning toward staying in Detroit: "My gut and everything else tells me Detroit's the place for me."
