Johnny Damon Confirms Red Sox Claimed Him Off Waivers

Monday afternoon, SI's Jon Heyman tweeted that the Red Sox claimed Johnny Damon off waivers from the Tigers, a move that Damon himself has now confirmed to reporters in Detroit, according to multiple sources.

Damon, who has a no-trade clause to Boston and thus can block any deal there, even if the Tigers decide to simply let him go on waivers in a salary-dump move, now has 48 hours to decide whether or not he will waive his clause and accept a move to the Red Sox. At this point, he is undecided, though earlier he said he was "not inclined to go back to Boston."
