The Red Sox have called up Triple-A infielder Yamaico Navarro to replace Dustin Pedroia. He should make it to the park on time for the beginning of the game, traffic permitting.
A sleeper in the Red Sox’ system this year, Navarro has made significant steps offensively, improving his plate discipline and power, barely missing a step in his recent promotion to Triple-A Pawtucket. In his last 10 games with the Paw Sox, Navarro is batting .294/.342/.559 with three walks, three strikeouts, and a pair of homers.
A flashy defender, Navarro has played up the middle and at the hot corner during his minor league career, and has more than enough ability to manage those positions at the major league level.
