Dustin Pedroia will be placed on the disabled list just a few days after making his return to the Red Sox lineup.
Pedroia was injured in the June 25 game against the San Francisco Giants after fouling a ball off his foot. A longer-than-expected six-week stint on the disabled list for a fracture ended on Tuesday, but it seems it wasn’t long enough.
Pedroia was scratched from the lineup in last night’s game against the Angels with a sore foot. While Pedroia says there’s thankfully no new damage to the foot, clearly he and the team are not comfortable with how far the injury has progressed.
