The 2010 Patriots season got underway Thursday morning with the first practice of this season's training camp, but noticeably absent was linebacker Derrick Burgess.
Burgess, whom New England traded for in 2009, did not practice with the team, and so far, has not been spotted at Gillette Stadium, a league source confirmed.
Text and voice mail messages left with Burgess have not been returned. We're trying to get confirmation from the team on what the deal is but haven't heard back.
Burgess, who signed a one-year deal worth $1.5 million with New England in May of 2010, played all 16 games with the Patriots in 2009, recording 35 tackles and five sacks.
