Brandon Spikes, the Florida linebacker who the Patriots selected in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft, has agreed to a deal with New England to the tune of $3.21 million over four years, this according to Mike Reiss (via Spikes' agent).
The deal includes a $960,000 signing bonus and a one-time incentive of $450,000.
“He’s refreshed and pleased that the contract is done," said Watson of the Marietta, Georgia based Watson Sports Agency. "He can not wait to get to the facility. He loves to play football and is ready to go about what he loves.”
Spikes is expected to compete for a spot at inside linebacker, along with Gary Guyton and Tyrone McKenzie, says Pats Pulpit:
Spike joins Jerod Mayo, Gary Guyton and Tyrone McKenzie on the inside linebacker depth chart. Spikes has nearly twenty pounds on the others and should provide a solid run down presence immediately. And if you watch the video below you'll see he could also bring a Ray Lewis-like leadership presence as well...
The Patriots now have just one draft pick unsigned, first-rounder Devin McCourty, a cornerback from Rutgers.
