No One Can Steal The Twitterverse From Rajon Rondo

The Boston Celtics lost game seven of the 2010 NBA Finals on June 17, more than a month ago. At the time, the city of Boston was buzzing about the Finals. This was obvious because Twitter's trending topics told us so.

Now, on July 19, what's still the No. 1 trending topic in Boston?

"Grand Theft Rondo."

No, not "Laser Show."

NBA commentator Mark Jackson coined the phrase "Grand Theft Rondo" during Game 5 on June 13. It stuck hard and fast. The Twitterverse just ate it up.

And it's still eating it up.

There are some Tweeters that wonder why "Grand Theft Rondo" is still the No. 1 trending topic in Boston. Actually, there are a lot of Tweeters wondering why it's still No. 1.

Ironically enough, there is your answer: so many people are wondering why it's still No. 1 that it continues to be No. 1.

That, or the trending topics section is broken or something, because nine of the top 10 are NBA Finals-related (hooray, Tony Awards). But thinking it's because people tweet "why is Grand Theft Rondo still numbah 1?!?!" is more fun.
