One of the storylines coming out of Tom Brady's Best Buddies Flag Football event on Friday was the return of Mark Herzlich, the Boston College All-American linebacker who sat out last year battling Ewing's Sarcoma. Mark not only returned to the football field for the first time since being diagnosed with cancer, but as Pats Pulpit reports, he made his return in style:
"He's back and he's ready to roll. At Tom Brady's Best Buddies Flag Football event, Herzlich was invited as a special guest. Showing that he's ready to return, he intercepted Brady, diving with a full extension."
This Flag Football event served as another step in Herzlich's return to college football. In the spring, Herzlich only participated in noncontact workouts, but says he'll be ready to go all-out when camp opens up in August.
Football aside though, Mark's story of beating cancer is an inspiration to us all. You can read more about Mark's battle with Ewing's Sarcoma and life after cancer in Friday's Philadelphia Inquirer.
