Lester, Red Sox Seeking Series Win Against Indians

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Russell Branyan's two-run single with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Cleveland Indians to an 8-7 win over the Boston Red Sox in the finale of a four-game series.

Lou Marson posted two RBI for the Indians, who earned the series split after they dropped the first two games. The Indians are now 5-5 in the month of June and will begin a string of interleague play by hosting the Washington Nationals for a three-game set on Friday.

Adrian Beltre's two-run homer in the top of the ninth temporarily gave the Red Sox a late lead, but Daniel Bard (1-2) failed to hold it. Victor Martinez drove in two runs for the Red Sox, who lost for only the fourth time in their last 12 games overall. Marco Scutaro scored twice in the losing effort.
