College Basketball Rankings: Duke Overwhelming No. 1, ACC Puts Three Teams In Preseason AP Poll

Duke, the defending national champion in college basketball, is the overwhelming No. 1 team in the 2010-11 preseason AP Poll, released Thursday. The Blue Devils received 55 of the possible 65 first-place votes.

Michigan State is the No. 2 team, with Kansas State, Ohio State and Pittsburgh rounding out the top five.

The Atlantic Coast Conference has three teams among the top 25: Duke, North Carolina at No. 8 and Virginia Tech at No. 21. It's the Hokies' first preseason ranking since the 1995-96 season.

Duke was tabbed as the ACC favorite last week, with Virginia Tech and North Carolina predicted to finish second and third, respectively.

Boston College plays at Duke Jan. 27, and then just five days later, hosts UNC and Virginia Tech back-to-back in a five-day span. The Eagles also play at the Tar Heels Feb. 19, and then at the Hokies Mar. 1.
