The Barclays 2012: Sergio Garcia Leads After Saturday

With three rounds in the books at the 2012 Barclays, Sergio Garcia has claimed the lead by two strokes over Nick Watney.

Garcia came into the day at 8-under and finished 10-under with a pair of birdies on the back nine 11th and 13th. The Spaniard was excellent in that stretch, overtaking Watney who went into Saturday's turn with a two-stroke advantage.

Watney appeared dominant early, but went into a funk starting on the 11th. From that point on, Watney bogeyed four of the remaining eight holes.

Tiger Woods is all but out of contention after finished the day with a 1-over 72. Woods looked good through the first two rounds, but couldn't get much going with four birdies but an unsightly five bogeys.

The best day belonged to Kevin Stadler, who shot a 6-under on the round to move from 42nd to 3rd place. The American is only three shots behind Garcia heading into the final day.

For a full look at the leaderboard, click here.

Barclays 2012: Nick Watney Surging On Saturday

The 2012 Barclays at Bethpage Park in Farmingdale, N.Y. have been terrific thus far with Nick Watney leading in the third round.

Watney is 11-under on the tournament, including a 3-under score through nine holes on Saturday. Watney has been very consistent throughout the tournament, shooting a 65 and 69 on the first two days.

Sergio Garcia remains right in the hunt with a total of 9-under, also through nine holes. The Spaniard is one below par on the afternoon.

However, the biggest climb up the leaderboard has been authored by Kevin Stadler. The American looked almost out of contention heading into the weekend, but posted a 6-under 65 to put himself into the thick of things. Stadler is currently just four shots off the lead.

Tiger Woods is lurking but still have some ground to make up. He's at 5-under overall and hasn't been able to get traction on the third day with an even score.

2012 Barclays: Rory McIlroy, David Hearn, Phil Mickelson Moving Up

The third round of the 2012 Barclays is underway on Long Island, and some pretty big names are doing well so far.

David Hearn has shot 4-under through the first 12 holes today, putting himself at 3-under for the entire tournament. Hearn still trails plenty of golfers, including Nick Watney and Sergio Garcia, who lead the tournament at 8-under.

Watney and Garcia will tee off at 1:45 p.m.

PGA Championship winner Rory McIlroy is making a run as well. Through his first seven holes, McIlroy is 3-under, putting him at 3-under for the tournament.

Phil Mickelson is also 3-under through seven holes, and like McIlroy, his 3-under through seven puts him at 3-under for the tournament.

Tiger Woods, who is three strokes behind Watney and Garcia at 5-under, will tee off at 1:05 p.m.

Hopkinton native Keegan Bradley missed the cut, shooting a 2-over 144 through the first two rounds.

For the latest on all things golf, head over to SB Nation's golf hub.
