Dan Kadar of SB Nation's Mocking the Draft slots safety Phillip Thomas being selected No. 30 by the New England Patriots.

While the New England Patriots may have business to take care of over the next few weeks, it is never too early to talk about the upcoming NFL draft. The folks at SB Nation's Mocking the Draft are doing just that, projecting picks No. 1 through No. 32, among other things.

New England, currently slotted to draft No. 30 overall in the draft and with hopes of drafting No. 32 -- the consequence of winning the Super Bowl -- can use a cover safety, according to Dan Kadar of SB Nation's Mocking the Draft.

With that being said, Kadar slots Fresno State safety Phillip Thomas going to New England at pick No. 30 in the draft. Kadar believes Thomas may be the best cover safety in the draft and would fit New England's need.

However, the Patriots could instead wait on Thomas and look to take a wide receiver with their first round pick instead.
