Revolution Vs. Rapids Score Update: Castrillon, Sene Trade Goals In First Half, Locked At 1-1

There's a sparse crowd at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday night, but that hasn't stopped the New England Revolution and the Colorado Rapids from giving loyal fans some fireworks. With just thirty minutes gone, the score stands locked at 1-1.

The Revs managed to put together some encouraging sequences and created chances early on in the first half, but it was the Colorado Rapids who made their chances count and scored first. In the 21st minute, Martin Rivero lined up and took a corner kick. Jaime Castrillon rose up uncontested at the near post to power a header home. The New England set-piece defense was largely absent, allowing Castrillon all the time he needed to line up his header.

The match began to open up somewhat, and it wasn't long before the Revolution found their chance and buried it. Team leading scorer Saer Sene did the honors, partly atoning for his wastefulness in front of goal last weekend. Clyde Simms delivered a high arcing corner to the far post, where Stephen McCarthy rose up to head it back across goal. Sene stood all alone in the middle of the six-yard box and made no mistake, drilling a left-footed volley into the back of the net past Matt Pickens to even the scores.
