The victory means that the Revs' unbeaten preseason (5-0-0) continues. The Revolution were led by sparkling performances from rookie midfielder Kelyn Rowe and veteran goalkeeper Matt Reis. Rowe scored both goals (77th minute, 84th minute) and Reis kept his first clean sheet of the preseason while playing the whole match. Rowe has four goals and four assists on the preseason and has recorded at least one goal or assist in each match.
After the match, Revs head coach Jay Heaps glowed about Rowe.
The one thing about Kelyn (Rowe) is he's a gamer. Every week, or every day, I love working with him. He just wants to get better. He's one of the guys who just loves the game and I think it shows. The New England Revolution defeated the Boston College Eagles 2-1 in a preseason match on Wednesday afternoon at Gillette Stadium. The win, the second in a row over BC, moved the Revs to 3-0-0 this preseason.
Once again, rookie Kelyn Rowe was the hero. Rowe had two goals in the match on Feb. 10. Today, he delivered both assists for the Revolution. Rowe assisted on Alec Purdie's 28th minute marker and again on the game-winner by captain Shalrie Joseph in the 52nd minute. Diego Medina-Mendez scored for the Eagles in the 33rd minute.
New England will next take their perfect preseason record to Arizona as they prepare to play in the FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup. The Revs will face the LA Galaxy, New York Red Bulls and Real Salt Lake in the preseason tournament which runs from Feb. 22-March 3.
