The New England Patriots have reportedly claimed injured former New York Giants tight end Jake Ballard off waivers (via Blake Baratz's Twitter).
Ballard's agent, Blake Baratz, tweeted on Tuesday, "As I stated yesterday a 'smart' football organization might claim @NYG_J_Ballard85 while he's hurt to own his rights. He's now a Patriot!" Just yesterday, both Baratz and Ballard tweeted about returning to the Giants in 2013. As Ballard is still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered against the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI, it is very unlikely he would play for New England in 2012.
Ballard was fourth on the Giants in receptions last season with 38. He had 604 yards and 4 touchdowns on those catches. Ballard had two grabs for 10 yards in the Super Bowl before his injury.
