Super Bowl 2012 News: Will Holding Be The Key To Patriots Success?

The New England Patriots offensive line will face a very big challenge Sunday, as they will need to try to find a way to stop the relentless pass rusher of the New York Giants defensive line in the 2012 Super Bowl. Well, according to Patriots blogger Tom E. Curran the answer is simple:

"Holding," wrote Curran.

"On Friday night, I ran into Tim Ryan, co-host of "Movin' The Chains" on SIRIUS XM NFL Radio along with Pat Kirwan As we talked about the Giants pass rush, he started dropping some eye-popping stats. In the two Conference Champioship games, there was one holding penalty called on a pass play.

"In the entire playoffs - 792 passing attempts and 10 games - there have been nine holding penalties. Four of those were against the Giants, according to Ryan."

The strategy is an interesting one and probably would work and who can blame the Patriots' offensive line for trying to bend the rules a bit to keep their star quarterback Tom Brady upright. We all know that if New England is going to be successful its because Brady has time to find wide receivers Wes Welker and All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski.
