Super Bowl Attendence: Lucas Oil Stadium Will Not Set Capacity Record

The NFL is expecting a capacity crowd of about 68,000-plus Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN, as the New England Patriots take on the New York Giants in the 2012 Super Bowl. According to a Washington Post blog post, the NFL added 265 seats behind one of the end zone's of the stadium, which usually holds about 63,000 Indianapolis Colts fans.

The total attendance Sunday will not even come close to breaking the Super Bowl record, which was many years back in Pasadena, CA during Super Bowl XIV at the Rose Bowl (103, 985). Last year, Dallas Cowboys Stadium came close to breaking the attendance record, as it packed 103, 219 football fans into the newly built stadium.
