NFL Scouting Combine 2012: The Best And Worst In Indy

With the NFL Draft less than two months away, teams are scrambling to reset their draft boards after an eventful NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Some players did what most expected (Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck) while many helped their stock quite a bit.

Nobody did more for themselves than Georgia Tech wide receiver Stephen Hill. After being in the option offense down South, many wondered just how good he really is. While his route running and consistency are still questionable, Hill lit up the combine with a 4.36 40-yard dash. Perhaps just as important, he made great catches including one with full extension.

Another man who made himself some money was Boston College's Luke Kuechly. Projected by many as a first round pick, there were whispers he would drop after the combine exposed his lack of speed. The opposite ended up happening as he ran 4.50 and 4.59 times, among the leaders for linebackers.

On the other end of the spectrum, Vontaze Burfict had a brutal showing. Already saddled with maturity and mental makeup questions, Burfict showed up out of shape and ran the 40-yard dash in over five seconds. The Arizona State product is looking like huge question mar amidst all of his problems.

One of if not the biggest story coming out of the Hoosier State is how much it's going to cost for the right to draft RG3. The Rams hold the second overall pick and look like they'll receive multiple first round picks among other things. St. Louis is sitting pretty in the catbird seat.

2012 NFL Combine Results: Defensive Backs Highlight Final Day

Tuesday marked the last day of the 2012 NFL Combine. It also meant it was time for the defensive backs to shine. In particular, Josh Robinson from Central Florida.

The fastest 40-yard dash time was produced by UCF's Josh Robinson. Robinson ran a 4.33, which was the fastest time of any position at the 2012 NFL Combine.

Arizona State's Omar Bolden did the most 225-pound bench press reps with 24, beating Jamell Fleming from Oklahoma by one.

Justin Bethel of Presbtyerian was tops in the vertical jump with a 39.5 inch jump while Josh Robinson was second with a 38.5 inch jump. Robinson did have the best broad jump at 11'1".

Robinson also had the best time in the 3-cone drill at 6.55 seconds. Casey Hayward from Vanderbilt had the best 20-yard shuttle time (3.90 seconds) while Jamell Fleming had the best 60-yard shuttle time (10.75 seconds).

Mark Barron from Alabama, a safety who has been widely projected to get selected by the Patriots in this year's NFL Draft, did not participate in the Combine drills. Barron is recovering from hernia surgery.

2012 NFL Combine Workout Results: Luke Kuechly Runs Third-Fastest 40-Yard Dash Among Linebackers

Former Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly did his best to address any questions about his athleticism, officially running the 40-yard dash at the 2012 NFL Combine in 4.58 seconds.

Kuechly's time was third-best among all linebacker prospects who worked out Monday at the NFL Scouting Combine, trailing only Marvin Kendricks from California (4.47 seconds) and Zach Brown from North Carolina (4.50).

Kuechly has been considered a first-round pick since he declared his intentions to forego his senior season in favor of entering the NFL Draft, but questions still existed about whether he possessed elite athleticism at the position.

By running one of the fastest 40-yard dash times at the Combine, Kuechly certainly did nothing to hurt his stock.

Top 10 40-yard dash times among linebackers:

Marvin Kendricks, California, 4.47 seconds
Zach Brown, North Carolina, 4.50
Luke Kuechly, Boston College, 4.58
Demario Davis, Arkansas State, 4.61
Nigel Bradham, Florida State, 4.64
Najee Goode, West Virginia, 4.64
Lavonte David, Nebraska, 4.65
Dont'a Hightower, Alabama, 4.68
James-Michael Johnson, Nevada, 4.68
Ricky Carder, TCU, 4.69

2012 NFL Combine Workout Results: UConn's Kashif Moore Posts Impressive Numbers

Kashif Moore, a wide receiver prospect from the Connecticut Huskies football program, posted some impressive numbers Sunday at the 2012 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Moore, who's not projected to be a NFL Draft selection come April, was the top performer in the vertical jump and made the list of top performers in the 40-yard dash and broad jump.

Moore, who was measured at 5-foot-9, 180 pounds on Friday, topped all wide outs by leaping 43.50-inches in the vert jump and placing fourth overall in the broad jump (10-feet, 6-inches). Moore also posted the eighth-best time in the 40-yard dash, running it in 4.42 seconds.

Coming into the day, Moore probably didn't have many scouts looking at him, however, leaving Indy with those numbers he now will.

2012 NFL Combine: Rams GM Speaks Highly Of Patriots

Earlier this off-season the St. Louis Rams hired Les Snead as their General Manager. Snead used to work under Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff, who has ties to the Patriots, and Snead had a ringing endorsement for the Patriots organization at the 2012 NFL combine.

"I think the Patriots are a difference-making organization," Snead said, noting that the Patriots own more regular-season victories than any team over the past four seasons. "What you will find with them is they are going to believe that teams win championships, individuals don't. Everything they do, whether it's the type of plate that is in the cafeteria to the type of scouting grading scale you have, they want to have a competitive edge in that area. That is what you learn. There is a lot of innovative thought that goes into the logistics and processes of putting it all together."

2012 NFL Combine Results: Kashif Moore Gets Measured, Emil Igwenagu Does 19 Bench Press Reps

The 2012 NFL Combine results are in for the measurements of running backs, quarterbacks and wide receivers.

Here's how Boston area players stacked up today:

Kashif Moore, UConn (WR): 5-9, 180 pounds, 9 5/8 inches (hand size)

Moore is on the smaller side when it comes to wide recievers at the combine but his hands are bigger than most of his competition.

Among the tight ends at the Combine is UMass' Emil Igwenagu. During the 225-pound bench press workout today, he did 19 reps, which was 16 behind the leader Orson Charles. Charles, a tight end out of Georgia, did more reps than all of the offensive linemen except for David Molk of Michigan who did 41. Igwenagu's 19 reps was tied with a top offensive line prospect, Mike Adams of Ohio State.

2012 NFL Combine: Quarterbacks, Wide Receivers Highlight Thursday's Arrivals

Much of the buzz surrounding the NFL Combine has centered around two players who will likely vie for the top pick in the forthcoming draft: Andrew Luck of Stanford and Robert Griffin III of Baylor.

Both quarterbacks are due to arrive in Indianapolis on Thursday, and they'll be joined by the remaining invited quarterback as well as the wide receivers and running backs.

The day will include event registration, medical examinations at an Indianapolis hospital, an orientation, and late day interviews.

Amongst those arriving today will be former UConn wide receiver Kashif Moore and Yale quarterback Patrick Witt.

Moore finished his senior season with 41 catches for 604 yards and 5 touchdowns, and is expected to be amongst the fastest receivers at the event.

Witt, who has made news both on and off the football field, is amongst the field of quarterback led by the aforementioned Luck and Griffin.

2012 NFL Combine: Kendall Wright Will Run In Indianapolis

Baylor wide receiver Kendall Wright is starting to get more and more attention the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine kicks off this week in Indianapolis. A fast forty time could garner Wright even more attention. According to Adam Caplan of SiriusXM, Wright will run the forty.

If Wright manages to run his forty in under 4.4 seconds, it could put him in the conversation as the best receiver available in the 2012 NFL Draft. Oklahoma State’s Justin Blackmon has been the hands down favorite to be the first receiver off the board, but he will sit out the forty at the Combine.

The New England Patriots could really use a receiver like Wright, who strikes fear in the hearts of opposing secondaries with deep speed, solid route running and a good pair of hands.

Unfortunately for the Patriots, Wright now figures to be off the board when they make their first pick, the 27th spot acquired from New Orleans in last year’s draft.

NFL Combine 2012: Wednesday's Schedule For Incoming Players And More

It's finally a new year in the NFL. Well, sort of.

The NFL Combine officially gets underway today with kickers, special teams players, offensive linemen and tight ends showing up to Indianapolis.

Full the full NFL combine schedule, click here.

This group will be the first to eventually show their skills. However, they start today with registration, medical exams and interviews. Tomorrow they will conduct more interviews with teams and take measurements.

Finally, these guys will meet with the NFLPA and do some workouts Friday before hitting the field on Saturday.

It's always intriguing to see what player makes a big impression on a team. Last year, it was Julio Jones who stole the show and wound up being the No.5 overall pick by Atlanta.

It's incredible how millions of dollars can be made and lost by a 40-yard dash.

Starting tomorrow, the rest of the field will come in as follows:

Thursday: Quarterbacks, Wide Receivers and Running Backs

Friday: Defensive Linemen and Linebackers

Saturday: Defensive Backs
