Rob Gronkowski Injury: Patriots' Tight End Out Of Walking Boot, Making Improvements To Play In Super Bowl 2012

Rob Gronkowski, the tight end for the New England Patriots, answered questions Tuesday at the Super Bowl's annual Media Day and did so without his protective walking boot that he has been wearing for the past few days. According to the Boston Globe, Gronkowski is reportlely still questionable for Sunday's 2012 Super Bowl vs. the New York Giants (6:30 p.m. ET on NBC).

"Gronkowski said he was "day by day" when asked about his status and did not predict if he would play on Sunday. Gronkowski suffered a high ankle sprain in the AFC title game win against the Ravens.

"He said that shedding the boot was a sign of improvement, however, and added he was not wearing a compression wrap under his sock."

Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady said that he hopes that Gronkowski can play consdering that he's a huge part of the New England offense.

Gronkowski, who set single-season tight end records in 2011 for touchdowns (17) and receiving yards (1,327), sustained the ankle injury in the win over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.
