Rob Gronkowski Injury Update, Super Bowl 2012: Tight End Will Miss Thursday's Practice

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will not practice on Thursday when the team begins preparation for the Super Bowl against the New York Giants, according to coach Bill Belichick. (via MassLive)

Gronkowski left the third quarter of the AFC Championship game after being tackled by Baltimore Ravens safety Bernard Pollard, a player well-known in New England for causing Tom Brady's season-ending injury during the first game of the 2008 season. The star Patriots tight end injured his left ankle yet did return, blocking on Brady's fourth-quarter touchdown run. He left the locker room wearing a walking boot and is considered day to day.

The Patriots released a projected injury report Wednesday saying that Gronkowski would not have practiced if the team had held a session, but the team had a day off from on-field activity.

Belichick said Sebastian Vollmer continues to progress from injuries that have kept him out of seven consecutive games.
